The business was set up in 2008 by Stevie Mitchell and Adam Simmons in response to a gap in the market for promoting good, clear web design combined with marketing expertise on how best to exploit web sites.
The two principals of Fontana Design have complementary strengths which make us so much more than just another web design business. You would expect a web design business to be able to design web sites! However, the web design aspect of your project would be carried out by a designer who has received a distinction in web site design from City and Guilds in the UK.
With many web design businesses the process stops once your website has been built. With us you will receive – at no extra fee – advice from an Associate at Warwick and Birmingham University Business Schools on how to leverage your web site to get the best results from your investment.
Before concentrating on web design full-time, I was an IT project manager for BT Customer Services where I needed to communicate clearly and publish project data on the corporate web site and in all of the time that I have been creating for and using the web, I have been surprised at the number of sites that are not user-friendly. So I trained with City & Guilds and achieved a distinction in web design.

I tutor modules including statistics, service operations and marketing on two MBA programmes. I also work as a transport consultant, advising governments and businesses around the world on improving their effectiveness through more efficient organisational structure, pricing strategy or improvements to their marketing plans.

Having a web presence is an essential investment in the digital age whether that be a fully-fledged e-commerce web site, a small blog or even just a Facebook page for your business. Creating a web presence can be simple with many of the tools available on-line, but how do you leverage that tool and create an eye-catching site that will delight your customers? A great deal of thought needs to be put in to the design of a site and these are the things that I learned from the likes of Olga Londer (winner of the British Computer Society’s “Trainer of the Year” award) and from my studies at Barnfield Technology College (Luton) where I gained my City & Guilds Qualifications:
- Level 2 Diploma for IT Users – Web Site Design (Pass)
- Level 3 Advanced Diploma for IT Users – Web Site Design (Pass with Distinction)
